This is Mr. Simpson's second year as Director of the Barnwell Bands.
Mr. Simpson is a 2004 Graduate of Charleston Southern University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Instrumental Music Education and was the recipient of
the Horton School of Music's Senior Excellence Award presented to the University's Most Outstanding Music Major. While
there, he studied tuba with Craig Sutherland, presently the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's Principal Tubist, and
conducting with John M. Watkins, Jr., currently Assistant Director of Bands at University of Texas, Austin. While at
Charleston Southern, Mr. Simpson served as Drum Major for the Marching BUCS and President and one of the Founding Fathers
of the Lambda Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. He was also Vice-President and an active member of CSU's Collegiate
Chapter of MENC. Beyond the Marching Band, Mr. Simpson was also a member of the Brass Quintet, Chamber Winds,
Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Symphonic Band.
Mr. Simpson was a 2002-2003 member of the World Finalist GLASSMEN Drum and Bugle Corps and was twice awarded the GLASSMEN's Distinguished Service Award--an award only given to a few outstanding
members of the corps.
Mr. Simpson arranges drill for marching band and has recently begun to write drill for indoor drumlines.
Assistant Director of Bands
Mr. Pisacreta is the Director of Bands at GBMS and is Assistant Director at the High School.
Mr. Pisacreta is a 2004 Graduate of Charleston Southern University where he studied tuba with Craig Sutherland. While
at Charleston Southern, Michael performed with the Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and Marching BUCS. Prior to
attending Charleston Southern, Mr. Pisacreta was a student of Debbie Jordan and J. Edward Shealey and a member of the
last graduating class at Middleton High School. Mr. Pisacreta is a member of MENC, SCMEA, SCBDA, and an alumni of the
Lambda Beta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.
Christian Videtto
Percussion Instructor
This is Mr. Videtto's First year on staff with the Scarlet Knights. Christian graduated from Silver Bluff High
School in 1999 where he performed under the direction of Mr. Chuck Deen. After graduating from High School, Mr. Videtto
joined the US Navy and served as a Navy SEAL. While in the Navy, he attended Old Dominion University in persuit of his
Music Education Degree. Mr. Videtto is currently a Music Educational Sales representative with Portman's Music Company.
He is the principal timpinist with the Augusta Concert Band and is also active as a freelance percussionist and percussion
adjudicator in the CSRA. Mr. 'V' is a member of MENC, FFJA, and CWEA.
Harry Adkins
We are proud to have Mr. Adkins back on Staff with the Scarlet Knights this Year. Mr. Adkins is the Minister of
Music at First Baptist Church in Barnwell and is known throughout the country for his Musical Compositions including
arrangements for Marching Band, Concert Band, String Ensembles, Handbells, and Choral Ensembles just to name a few.
Mr. Adkins was a member of the Alabama All-State Band. He attended Troy State University and New Orleans Seminary.
Mr. Adkins enjoys spending time with his wife, Rita, and children, Jonathan and Randi.
Band Camp Staff
Jeanette Crisp -- Woodwind Staff -- Jeanette graduated from Charleston Southern University in 2004.
She is currently the Children's Ministries Coordinator at First Baptist Church in Charleston, SC. Jeanette loves any
and all types of Chocolate!!! Jeanette and Mr. Simpson are getting married June 24, 2006.
Megan Fox -- Woodwind Staff -- Megan is a sophomore Secondary English Education Major at Charleston
Southern University. She is a graduate of Ridge View High School. Megan is a world traveler.
A.J. Dyer -- Brass Staff -- A.J. is a graduate of Summerville High School and attended Charleston Southern
University. A.J. performed with the GLASSMEN Drum and Bugle Corps in 2003 & 2004. A.J.'s favorite color is
Midnight-Blue.
Nolan Black -- Brass Staff -- Nolan is a graduate of West-Oak High School and Senior Music Education
Major at Charleston Southern University. Nolan performed with the GLASSMEN Drum and Bugle Corps in 2004. Nolan
has never kissed a chipmunk.
Mandy Sexton -- Brass Staff -- Mandy is a 1999 graduate of Barnwell High School and was a member of
the Scarlet Knights. She was also a member of the first girls soccer team at Barnwell High. Mandy attended Charleston
Southern University in persuit of her Music Education Degree. Mandy loves Strawberry Shortcake.
